STEP FOUR: FINAL QUALITY CONTROL CHECK
Prior to leaving our recycling/production floor, every tray must undergo and pass a final, mechanical and visual quality inspection.
The trays are inspected for visible defects including, warpage, cracks, ridges and fences, scratches and chips. Their electrostatic discharge characteristics are also checked. Every tray must be perfect before leaving the production floor, and each of these checks is held to a zero-tolerance standard. Any tray that does not meet the same quality standards of a new tray is sent for regrinding into raw material for manufacture of other plastic products.
The recycled trays are cleaned and tested so scrutinously that it is difficult, if not impossible, to discern the difference between a new tray and a SemiCycle recycled tray.
MECHANICAL INSPECTION
- Trained and certified personnel conduct a mechanical inspection to ensure that all re-processed trays at SemiCycle have mechanical characteristics that conform with customer requirements.
- JEDEC Trays and Non-JEDEC trays are tested accordingly, one at a time, and each against its own standards.
- Warpage Inspection:
- Only trays that have passed the visual inspection undergo the warpage inspection. All trays processed must have mechanical characteristics that conform with customer requirements.
- A 360ยบ warpage inspection is then performed on each tray, one side at a time using shim gauges and surface plates that have been calibrated, properly labeled and ensured to be clean and free from foreign matters to eliminate the possibility of contamination.
- Concavity / Convexity Inspection:
- Only trays that have passed the warpage inspection undergo the concavity/convexity inspection.
- Using specialized tray concavity/convexity inspection tools, trays are tested one at a time to ensure conformance to the concavity/convexity measurement standards.
- Trays that do not meet this standard do not pass inspection and are rejected.
VISUAL INSPECTION
- Trays that pass all aspects of the mechanical inspection undergo a final visual inspection.
- Trained and certified personnel conduct a visual inspection to ensure that all re-processed trays at SemiCycle have form or physical appearance that conforms with customer requirements.
- All trays that undergo visual inspection are handled with gloves to avoid the possibility of contamination.
- Using a magnifying glass, trays are carefully and meticulously visually inspected for breaks, damaged fences, chips, cracks, scratches, deformities and any other defects that in any way degrade the quality of the product.
