SemiCycle's History
Established in 1992, SemiCycle works with semiconductor clients to preserve the environment by ensuring that re-useable, valuable plastic packaging materials are no longer unnecessarily destroyed or disposed of in landfills. Best of all, SemiCycle is able accomplish this with little to no extra effort by their semiconductor clients, which provides them a nearly hands-free disposal process that supports their green initiatives. To date, SemiCycle has already processed over 100 million trays, which has saved over 15,000 tons of plastic material from entering the environment.
Today, SemiCycle provides recycling services to EMS (electronic manufacturing subcontractors) and test and packaging companies around the world. In Europe alone, over 30 million semiconductor trays have been collected to date. That volume represents approximately 4,000 tons of plastic resin that was neither incinerated nor buried in a landfill. These significant thermal energy savings achieved by producing fewer new trays demonstrate the important role played by SemiCycle in protecting our environment, while contributing important savings to the semiconductor industry. Currently, we collect
approximately two and a half million trays each month for recycling.
